Currently all areas of the Province of Ontario move into the grey 'lockdown' level. This does impact life in our parish.

Daily Mass

While, generally, gathering sizes are restricted to groups five of less, provisions have been made for worship services (including Funerals, Masses, Weddings and Baptisms) to allow for groups of up to ten. So, with the blessing of our bishop, we will begin celebrating the daily Mass this coming Monday morning! Those joining us will be required to provide details for contact tracing. Also, only ten places will be available for seating in the church.

Adoration

The time for Adoration on Saturdays will change beginning on January 23rd to accommodate a Mass in the morning. Adoration and Confession on Saturdays will be from 6pm to 8pm.

Pope Francis announced this year to be the Year of St. Joseph, patron saint of the Universal Church, Canada and our parish! This year provides an opportunity to reflect on the many lessons that can be found in the life of our patron saint and prompts us to seek the intercession of this holy man.

What to expect

As the year (and the hopeful defeat of COVID-19) progresses, more may develop. But, here's what you can expect so far between now and December 8th:

  • As a parish community, we will pray the Novena to St. Joseph on the days leading up to the feast of St. Joseph in March.
  • Before the celebration of Benediction, we will pray the Litany to St. Joseph (beginning January 23rd).
  • Prayer cards for the year will be available later.
  • We will pray the prayer to St. Joseph, husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary, before each Sunday Mass (beginning January 23rd)

Let us pray that this year bears some wonderful fruit for our parish, nation and Church!

Please keep in your thoughts and prayers...

those who have died, especially...

Barry Prout

and those who are sick, especially...

Maria Aguano & Peter Karmiris

Jesus, Our Lord, we ask you to have mercy on all who are sick. Give them your strength and love and help them carry this cross with faith. May their sufferings be one with yours, overcome the power of evil and lead others to our Father in Heaven. Lord Jesus, hear our prayer, for you are Lord forever and ever. Amen.

St. Joseph Church is so lucky to have so many generous people to count on. However, once the current lockdown is over, we are in need of assistance in counting the offertory on Monday mornings; it's easy, takes less than an hour and coffee is available. If interested please contact the office. Many thanks!

5th Annual St. Joseph Dinner in Support of Peterborough Campus Ministry

Join us as we go virtual to support our students! The St. Joseph Dinner is an important fundraiser for Catholic ministry at Trent University and Fleming College. This year, you can join virtually and enjoy a meal with us, either delivered to your door or available for pick-up nearby! We are partnering with 6 local restaurants/caterers to enable parishioners from throughout the Diocese to have an in-home event, to support local businesses and to donate to our ministry! Tickets are $100 and are eligible for a $50 charitable tax receipt. Our keynote speaker is weekly EWTN radio contributor and author Dan Burke, who founded the Avila Institute for Spiritual Formation. Purchase tickets and get details at www.ptbovocations.ca/dinner or call 705-874-1871. You can also consider sponsoring a student or serving as a corporate sponsor.
