Artists get all the credit for a good comic strip, but I think it’s the writing that really makes or breaks them. To really focus on the writing, I’ve removed those pesky cartoons and will simply explain the comic strip. I think this will create a much more enjoyable experience for the reader.
Luann by Greg Evans for February 28, 2021
Luann and her Mom are catching up on some work at the kitchen table. In the background, Luann's Dad checks the calendar. He has a big smile on his face as he quips, "Hey! How many months have 28 days? All of 'em! What do you call the end of February? Y!"
In panel 2, Dad walks away chuckling to himself. Luann sips her drink, while both she and Mom look completely unamused by the jokes.
In the final panel, Luann dryly asks, "Why don't Dad's 'Dad Jokes' tickle my funny bone?"
Just as dryly, Mom replies, "Because they're not humerus."
Oh snap! Mom broke out the homophone jokes, proving that puns are indeed the highest form of comedy.
